Barbie Costume Dress.
I had a few Barbie’s I played with when I was child, but I was never really that into her and her friends. They were fun on occasion, but I didn’t get into them like a few of my other friends. This was possibly because I was a tomboy, and was more interested in playing outside, building forts, and riding my bicycle. I was actually surprised that my daughter, who shows lots of the same interests that I had when I was young, asked me if she could get a Barbie costume.

She had been learning to like to dance by watching the Wiggles. They had a song in their concerts that featured ballet, and she loved this. She watched a DVD at a friend’s house that featured Barbie and the Twelve Dancing Princesses and was enchanted with what she saw. She asked for the dance mat for Christmas, and I thought it was more about the dancing than Barbie, but I’m not really certain any more. One time in the store we saw a Barbie costume that must be from the Dancing Princesses, and because it has been on sale, I got it for her.
She has loved that Barbie costume a lot that I’m sorry I didn’t get it for her earlier. I just had no idea she was that fascinated. She wears it all the time, and she even wore the Barbie costume to the supermarket one night. My husband wasn’t thrilled on it initially, but after he saw how happy it made her to tell everyone she was a princess that he decided that if she wants to wear it, there is definitely no harm in her doing so. She hasn’t asked to wear it to the store lately, however she has said she wants to take it with us on vacation this year.

If she still has a strong attention in her Barbie costume by Christmas time this year, I think I’ll see if I can find her a few more. I am certainly disposed to purchase her the things she is involved in having so that toys are not going unused. We’ve had enough of that in the past. I as well think I should seriously consider enrolling her in some sort of dance class, like she seems to love it as much as anything else. She may not be able to be dressed in her Barbie costume there, but she will soon be wearing costumes just as cute, and possibly a bit more comfortable.

Every year that I start looking for costumes for my daughter I go all the way around the bush just to end up back at a fairy costume. She’s been a fairy 3 out of 4 years. Little Red riding hood made it to her second halloween. Thanks for the great site and the post.
